It is just one bad day. Breath, and make it a better day.

You might think you have a great life, happy and just amazing. Everything is happening just the way you wanted it to be. You are in control of everything . How lucky you are!

But, sometimes, you might take it for granted , you may stop making an effort to make your own happiness grow. Lazy all the day, doing the same old things, work and back home, fall asleep and get up the next day, repeat it…

When you  find yourself in that kind of situation, it automatically transforms your peace of mind into a kind of depression!

And out of nowhere, you feel stuck on a bad day!

You start having those dark ideas that your life has no sense. Sometimes tired of everything and in worst case you  just fall weak crying unable to explain logically what happened!

It’s rarely when you could stop it from poisoning you.

This is exactly what happened to me. I took my peace of mind for granted and when the storm came , it took everything from me!

Yet I thought about an everyday basis that will make some changes in my lifestyle in order to fight those temporary depression moments!

As Annie Dillard said:

How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.

It is true the actions we take on an everyday basis determine who we are in the long run.

I’m not an expert, but I think these tips will make a difference in somebody’s life when feeling down as it did to me:

1. Exercise

Exercising helps me a lot to feel great, especially with the fact that exercising is proven scientifically to be connected with creating new neurons in the hippocampus; the part of the brain responsible for short-term memory and learning.

So, it literally helps to strengthen your memory and protect you from Alzheimer and other damaging diseases to the brain.

The benefits of exercise are countless, not only to the brain but also to every part of your body.

Keeping this habit a part of your daily routine will make a good change on your physical and mental health in the long term .

2. Eat healthy food

‘You are what you eat’

What you eat will not just affect you physically but also emotionally . The emotional health and the physical well-being, are connected.

Try to put your immunity system first. Choosing foods that boost the immunity such as foods full of vitamin C, fiber and antioxidants.

Here is a list of 4 foods your can start with:

1.1.Citrus fruits

Citrus fruits , like lemons, oranges and clementines, are the source of vitamin C, which helps a lot to increase the production of white blood cells (Necessary for fighting infections).

1.2. Broccoli

Broccoli is one of the healthiest vegetables. It is full of fibre and protein.

It contains iron, potassium, calcium, selenium and magnesium as well as the vitamins A, C, E, K.

1.3. Garlic

Garlic have been used all around the world for its antibacterial and disease-fighting properties. It contains some zing.

Your body needs some zing too, add some garlic to your plate.

1.4. Ginger

Ginger is known for its  anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It can improve your immunity and keep away many diseases.

I personally like Ginger and Honey Tea. It’s just incredible , it helps a lot to lower stress and tension by relaxing the muscles.

What you eat can make you more productive and in a state of mind where you could feel peace and calm!

3. Help someone

Helping someone in need is one the best thing I keep doing whenever the dark thoughts visit me.

That smile, that bright full of  happiness you see on theirs faces when they finally got what they needed thanks to you. It is priceless to me, It really makes me feel fulfilled about myself.

So whenever you feel you’re having a bad day, help someone in need, you will see that your problems are nothing compared to what some people out there have being through.

4. Drink more water

Back in my school days, I had this weird habit of drinking too much water in class to not fall asleep. It was a weird tip but it proved to me that water keeped me awake.

At that times I had no clue on other benefits of that habit. Times goes by, I started to notice that drinking more water is necessary to keep the body hydrated.

Studies show that people who drink more water have clearer and younger looking skin. It is also a natural detox for your body that will help to  eliminate toxins.

Drinking water will make you feel happier because dehydration affect the mood. Stop drinking water and you will notice that yourself, you will feel kind of sad and confused. Don’t worry you’re okay ,nothings is wrong with you, you just need more water.

5. Pray

For me Praying is that spiritual moment that connects me to the creator of this universe.

It is the time to think about my true purpose in this life ,to see the whole picture.

It is also that moment when I realise how much I’m blessed. Counting my blessing make me feel the gratitude of what I have.

So this is the part of my life that gives me the time to think about everything, every single moment of happiness and sadness and thank God for it.
